What Stops Weigh Safe Ball Mount From Exceeding Load Rating When Hitting Bumps?

Updated 09/08/2025 | Published 06/01/2025

Question:

Good morning, I just learned about Weighsafe a little bit ago. So I apologize if the information is out there and I’ve not found it yet. But what protects the weigh safe from being damaged and exceeding the weight on the scale during towing and the dynamic load movement while driving down the road?

Hey Tim, good question. The Weigh safe ball mounts like part # WS78RR were actually designed with this in mind. There is a max weight for the scale and when the scale hits this max weight the ball basically bottoms out and stops pushing on the scale. So any bumps that may cause the dynamic load rating to be exceeded would be absorbed by the ball mount itself and not the scale. So it really still acts like a standard ball mount in these scenarios. I hope this makes sense lol. Let me know if you have any more questions.

What kind of trailer are you pulling? Do you know the GVWR?

Hey Tim, did the explanation about how the Weigh Safe ball mount protects the scale make sense for your towing needs? I'd love to know what kind of trailer you're pulling and if you have the GVWR, as it could help others with similar questions.
