Can I Run the Power Wire to a Cigarette/Accessory Plug on the Curt Wiring Harness C56403?

Question:
2024 VW Tiguan Kurt Wiring Harness 56403 The installation of the power wire under the car body is a bit challenging. As the Tiguan provides a 20 amp cigarette/accessory plug in the third seat interior panel, can I simply tie into this circuit instead? I am anticipating just occasional trailer use.

No, I am sorry Bob I can not recommend you doing that. We get this question all the time btw. The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness item # C56403 needs a consistent power supply directly from your Tiguan's battery because of the sensitivity of the converter. Installing it any other way will void the warranty as well.
I have linked an installation video below that will give you an extremely brief breakdown of where and how the power wire was ran.

I was thinking of splicing into the accessory plug power wire by stripping it, soldering a piece of the black lead wire along with the 15 amp fuse. This solution results in a solid connection, not a circuit that is subject to interruption by plugging and unplugging an accessory plug. I will understand if you reply, that's not howe do it. Incidentally, this2018 video may provide more clear guidance on how to snake the power wire under the vehicle: 7Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan Video | etrailer.com00103.
