Roof Rack and 4-Way Wiring for 2025 Chevrolet Equinox

Updated 05/15/2025 | Published 05/04/2025

Question:

I have a new 2025 Equinox, No roof rails, does anyone make rails that work on my Equinox? From an older vehicle I have cross bars for our Kayaks, need rails to mount them. ALSO, I put a trailer hitch on the vehicle but I do not see the wiring kit for a flat 4, Is there not a kit made for the 2025 Equinox yet... I have a small utility trailer for my Kayaks as well... If you do not have anything, can you direct me to someone that might? ANY HELP would be appreciated

Hey Jim! What kind of crossbars do you have? There are universal rails you can add but you're going to be drilling into your roof to use bolts/rivets to attach them (really don't recommend that on a nice new vehicle). Since you don't have rails already I recommend using a clamp on roof rack like the Inno Aero # IN59FV. The only other option for rails would be to have the dealer install the factory raised rails.

There are 4-way wiring kits available for your 2025 Equinox. If you have the tow package with the factory wiring port you can use the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C44FR. If you do not have the factory tow package you need the Curt # C59496 instead. Both will complete your setup so you can tow that small utility trailer.

Any big plans with your kayaks this summer?

Got the Connector for my 2025 Equinox, fit was fine but no power to the plug, have the 30 amp fuse in place in the fuse box and it is IDed as trailer but nothing powering the plug in the back, I got the test plug too, works fine on my Jeep but not on the Equinox. I read where something might need to be programed by the dealer, so I'll ask them on Wednesday as it is my first service. I'll have them check the fuse too... I have Tullie cross bars came off my old GMC rails when I sold it, kept the Kayak holders and bars, I hate to drill holes in my roof but I sure would like rails on it, I see the Equinox RS package comes with roof rails and the car is physically the same as far as I can see. just the trim package is different. Planning a trip to northern Idaho this summer to enjoy boating and Kayaking with our daughter and grandkids, would love to have my trailer wiring fixed by then, OR have roof rails installed... thanks for your help

@Jim since you're taking it to the dealer already I would see what it would cost to install the factory raised rails. It will look significantly better and you won't have a bunch of holes from drilling for tracks, which I see as potential issues later on if you plan to keep it for a long time. You might be able to buy the factory rails online and install them yourself as well. Most of the time the mounting points already exist so it isn't an overly difficult process to install them yourself. We just had a report from another Equinox owner with the same kind of problem. Right now it sounds like the dealer programming the BCM is the solution so ask them about that as well when you take it in for service. If I had to guess, you don't have the tow package even though you have that factory port which is why additional programming is necessary. Hopefully this takes care of your issues so you don't have to worry about it as you plan your trip with your family!

took it to the dealer today and no help... they could not get power to the plug... fuses are in place, have not checked them but they LOOK good... really disappointed in this dealer... but it is the ONLY one near me. not sure what to do next, Could this harness on my vehicle be fiberoptics somehow for 2025 and require a fiberoptics connection and lines to my trailer If there are other 2025 Equinox folks out there that have the LT trim package... contact me if you have success on getting power to the plug, thanks Jim
