My Axle is Rated for 3,500 Pounds but My Brake Flange is a 5 Bolt on 2012 Rockwood Premier 2516G

Question:

Hi, I have a 2012 Rockwood Premier 2516G. Brake assembly recommended for 3500 axle was: etrailer by AxleTek Trailer Brakes - ETBRK235C. However, this says its a four-bolt and I have a five-bolt? Is there another version? Thansk!

Hello Lucas,

We do not have 3,500 pound electric brakes with the 5 bolt flange. I looked up the specs on the 2012 Rockwood Premier 2516G and the information that I am finding is that the brake flange is a 4 bolt, but your wheel bolt pattern is a 5 lug. Can you please respond to the email you receive with a picture of your brake flange?

I attached an image with the brake flange that should be on there, if that is what it looks like then you will need the etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 3.5K # AKEBRK-35-SA

If it does have a 5 flange, then did someone swap out the axle for a heavier one? Can you include a picture of your axle tag as well?

That’s awesome, thank you!  I screwed up – I didn’t read carefully and assumed lugs, not the flange.  I guess a separate issue on the lugs – I didn’t see the specs, but for this trailer I have 5x4.5.  Can you confirm that’s a match?

@Lucas Yes, the etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes - Self-Adjusting - 10" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 3.5K # AKEBRK-35-SA are the correct brakes for you. The lugs are important when you need hubs, which for your application are the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3.5K Axles - 10" - 5 on 4-1/2 - Pre-Greased # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K. If your hubs are in good shape, I would just repack the bearings with some grease # L11380 when you swap out the brakes.
