only sent 27 foot why no spool

by:

It worked out perfectly using it as a jumper wire for hooking a 30amp cable to a 50amp Smart Pilug.

by:

Works fine.

by:

Wire is of high quality

by:

Exccellant value as sold by the foot instead of by the roll.

by:

The products were exactly as advertised and they even expedited my shipping. Great customer service.

by:

Good wire, once I got it untangled....

by:

Was larger gauge than I needed but worked just fine. This 10 gauge wire is blue but my stock wiring was about 14 gauge but since the used a circuit breaker to cross connect it was not a problem.

by:

Was not what I was expecting. The photo shows a lot of wire. What I received was not even a foot of wire. Very disappointing.

by:

Excellent brake controller. etrailer was prompt in shipping and service outstanding. Would definitely buy from etrailer again.

This brake controller is working great. Would recommend it Easily adjustable for driving conditions

Fast delivery - Ordered on 9/29/17 - Received on 10/4/17
Excellent heavy gauge wire!
NOTE for etrailer managers. I am a technical person by nature and speaking only for myself, when I buy and pay for a specific amount of something, I expect to get that amount. I'm not pinching pennies with you here; BUT, I bought 30' of this wire and when I received it, I measured it twice and came up with 29' 9". Most places I've dealt with in the past where I buy wire, angle iron, etc.. would give you a couple of inches or more than you ordered versus a couple of inches shorter than what was ordered. Very stingy in my opinion and not fair to your customers.

by:

Ordered a pair of Dexter electric brake kits for my trailer. Everything arrived within a few (3) days in good shape. Installed on the trailer, everything works as advertised. I have ordered from etrailer several times over the past few years. Always great service and prices. Customer service and tech assist is especially good with these folks. I would send pictures but the trailer is out working.

by:

Couldn't be happier. Bought a couple of 4 to 7 way adapters, some 10 gauge wire and a couple of 40a breakers. Recommendations from etrailer were thorough and well done.
All installed on both vehicles ... both working just great.

by:

ettrailer was extremely helpful with adding brakes to my utility trailer. This wire was just one component in the upgrade. Thank you etrailer. I would definitely recommend them.

by:

The wiring harness set is flawless and the installation went smooth, even for this less than electrically inclined guy. A couple hours or work and I was on the road towing with confidence

by:

The wire itself seems okay, although the packaging wasn't great. Ordered 75 feet of wire along with a coupler. The wire was coiled in the bottom of the box, with the coupler sitting on top of it in direct contact. I noticed some nicks in the wire insulation as a result of the coupler edges hitting it during shipping.

eTrailer did a great job of shipping quickly! Order packaging needs some serious attention.

by:

Good price, and just what I needed for carrying the heavier loads needed for charging the trailers on board battery, and running the refrigerator/freezer.

by:

This served its purpose for installing a trailer battery charge line. It was nice that I could order a specific length from retailer since I didn't need a whole roll.

by:

Nice piece of wire

by:

The wire was perfect for the application (electric trailer brakes). The sales person, William, who helped me, was most helpful.

by:

Wire was just what I needed to add the battery charger wiring to the 6 pin receptacle for the TOAD vehicle.

  • Can Hydraulic Brakes of Demco Tow Dolly be Converted to Electric Brakes
Since Demco uses 3,500 drum brake assemblies part # DMSB24429M and # DMSB24428M what you'd need is similar 3,500 electric brake assemblies like the etrailer part # AKEBRK-35L-SA for the left hand side and # AKEBRK-35R-SA for the right hand side. To wire these up you'd just need 10 gauge wire like the part # 10-1-1 which we sell by the foot. Then to add a 7-way the easiest way to do that is with the 7-way junction box # e99011.

  • Can Brakes be Added to 3,500 Pound Dexter Trailer Axle
Yes, brakes can be added to your trailer and I've linked an article to help with the parts you'll need. The first thing you'll need is the brake mounting flanges welded to the axle, like you mentioned. The correct flange is # 4-35 however these need to be welded by a qualified welder because the mounting flange must be welded square and concentric. This is generally done using a jig at a trailer shop. I've linked our selection of hub and drum assemblies for 3,500 pound axles. You'll...

  • Parts Needed to Add Brakes to 3,500 lb Trailer Axle
Since we know you have 3,500 lb axles we can pretty easily pick out the correct parts you'd need to add brakes to your trailer. You'd need new hubs that have integrated drums like with the part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K which have the very common 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Then you'd need to add matching brake assemblies with the part # AKEBRK-35-SA and you'd be set aside from 10 gauge wiring like part # 10-1-1 which we offer that you'd want to wire up the assemblies with. This is sold by the foot.

  • Bypassing Factory Brake Controller and Installing Aftermarket Model on 2018 GMC Sierra 3500
There isn't anything like an autonomous controller that would step up if the factory controller fails. I'd simply bypass the existing factory brake controller. The GM ITBC, although it works better now than the earlier models has been problematic enough that Tekonsha who provides many of our aftermarket brake controllers has a technical bulletin that specifically addresses how to bypass the factory controller. Let's just say you aren't the only one that's had problems with the factory...

  • Parts Needed To Add Electric Drum Brakes To A Pontoon Trailer
Hey Jeremy, Typically with boat trailers the manufacturer will install hydraulic surge brakes because you don't have to worry about the water damaging wires like you would with electric brakes. That being said, if you use a heat shrink butt connector # DW05745-10 you'll be able to protect your electrical connections and shouldn't have a problem. To add brakes you'll need to check the axle/spindle to see if you have a brake mounting flange. If you don't then you'll have to buy new axles...

  • Which Axle Should Electric Brakes be Installed on with Tandem Axle Trailer
When installing electric brake assemblies on just one axle of a tandem axle trailer, you will essentially want to choose the axle that is going to be seeing more weight. Typically on utility trailers, most of the weight will be in front of the axles so the brake assemblies will be installed on the front axle. For boat trailers, where the motors are at the rear, you will usually see brakes on the rear axle. I have attached a great article that details everything you will need to install...

  • How to Make an Adapter to Go from Semi Truck 7-Way Round to RV Style 7-Way Blade on Trailer
Either way is correct. It depends on if you want to keep the semi-style 7-Way (if you need to tow that type of trailer) or if you will never be towing a semi-trailer. If you need to keep the 7-Way semi active on the truck, then you would need to make an adapter to get it to work with an RV 7-Way. For that you would need a trailer side 7-Way round, # PK11702, a converter, # RM-732, and a vehicle side 7-Way RV style, # PK12-707E. A semi-7-Way has separate circuits for the brake lights and...

Hey Robert! Ideally you're going to get 12V all the way back to the brakes but that typically doesn't happen. What exactly is the issue? Are they not working at all? At 8-9V I would expect them to have most of their functionality to a point you probably wouldn't notice. Are you saying you have 11V at the brake assemblies when you use the jumper pack? Do you have full 12V coming off of your vehicle when you use the manual override on your brake controller? Some typical issues with low voltage...

These can be saved for use later on if you want a hardwired brake controller or have a boat trailer with a reverse lock out solenoid. The wires are located under the dash between the emergency brake and the brake pedal, and the harness will...

  • Curt Echo Not Working Plugged Into 2016 Ford F-150
Hi Brendan, The issue is with the wiring on your 2016 Ford F-150, as the 12 volt power is sometimes off on the 7-way if you're not moving, as you can see from the cut out of the instructions I added for the Curt Echo # C51180. So the 12 volt power needs to be routed directly to the positive terminal on your battery with 10 gauge wire # 10-1-1 and 30 amp circuit breaker # PK54530.

The grounds will not be spliced, each brake assembly should have its own ground; please see the accompanying photo which is from our help article on adding electric drum brakes which I have linked for you.

It sounds like you may have a poor ground connection which is causing low voltage when you are testing. • How to Charge a Trailer Battery Through a 7-Way Connector
You can put a maintenance charge on your trailer battery with the 12 volt accessory circuit of the 7-way. The 1:00 position of your 7-way carries this circuit. You would just need to run a length of 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot), from this pin to the positive terminal of the battery. You should note that this won't charge a dead battery, but it will keep the battery topped off when you are towing the trailer.

Yes, you certainly can use the 12V auxiliary power circuit on your 7-way wiring setup to power trailer lights. If you refer to the linked photo of a vehicle 7-way connector you will note that the 12V power circuit is carried on the contact at the 1:00 position as you look at the 7-way socket. This is noted by the yellow arrow. An easy way to access this 12V power circuit is to tap into it by using a junction box like # HS381-9000.
