Can The Higher Tongue Weight Rated EcoHitch Be Utilized With A 2018 Kia Soul EV?

Updated 09/26/2025 | Published 04/24/2025

Question:

Re: hitches for 2018 Kia Soul. Your video comparing the 3 available hitches says that all 3 have 200 lb. tongue weight limit, but site shows the EcoHitch to have 300 lb. Which is right? Also, our Kia is an EV- 100 battery powered. Will these hitches work on that vehicle?

Good question David!

It took some digging, but I did find out that your 2018 Kia Soul "should" be able to handle up to 287 pounds of tongue weight. I put should in quotation marks as I was unable to find anything about the EV models having different capacities, so I would definitely check with a Kia dealer on that part.

If they say it is the same, the EcoHitch # 306-X7326 is definitely the one to go with. You wont get the full 300 pounds it offers (you are all ways limited to the lowest rated component), but you will have more than the Curt or Draw-Tite hitches offer.

It looked like you were going to be using this with a bike rack?

Hey David, Did you have a chance to check with the Kia dealer about the tongue weight capacity for your EV model? I'm curious to know if the EcoHitch ended up being the right choice for your bike rack. Your experience could really help others with similar setups!
