Longer WDH Shank for Jack Clearance on Ford F-350 With 2-1/2" Receiver

Updated 09/26/2025 | Published 04/24/2025

Question:

I have an equalizer weight distribution hitch . I changed the tongue jack on my trailer and now it to big and not able to open the trail get when hooked up. Part Number: BLU26FR Looks like it would work and give me one more inch rather two so might be able to open the tail get when hooked up to my truck. F350 which has a 2.5 inch hitch. Do you have one that does not have the 9 hole rise? Attached is my current measurements.

Hey Jeff! That Blue Ox # BLU26FR is the only standard shank that will be longer. The rest hold to the same 8" measurement you have now. You could upgrade a little and use something like the Gen-Y Torsion Weight Distribution Shank # GY92NR which will get you almost 3" further out than the Blue Ox. It has 9 holes but a smaller rise/drop with the tradeoff being a higher cost.

Hey Jeff, did you decide to go with the Gen-Y Torsion Shank for your setup? I'm curious to know if it helped you open the tailgate when your trailer is hooked up to your truck. Your experience could really help others facing a similar issue!
