Question:
My unit is 30A service but the receptacle at my permanent site is 50A. Could this adapter be used to plug into a 50A receptacle then put a 30A surge protector to it or would a dog bone type be better.

Hi Brian, great question!
The adapter part # A10-5030AVP can plug directly into the 50A receptacle, then plug your 30A surge protector into the adapter, followed by your RV’s power cord. That would work just fine, however I still recommend a dog bone style cord, let me tell you why.
The dog bone style is easier to plug in and unplug, especially one with handles. It also put's less stress on our outlet. When you use a straight adapter (like the A10-5030AVP), it sticks straight out from the power outlet. That means the entire weight of your RV's heavy power cord (plus any pulling or tugging) is directly pressing on the adapter and the outlet. We have heard from other customers that over time it can wear on the prongs.
For those reasons, I recommend the Camco Power Grip RV Power Cord Adapter w/ Handles part # CAM55175. If you need a surge protector you can use Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Protector part # CAM55301.
It sounds like you have some big plans for this upcoming camping season. Feel free to comment below if you have any other questions for me or need anything else for your trip.

Hey Brian, did you end up using the dog bone style adapter with handles for your RV setup? I'd love to hear how it worked out, as it could help others in a similar situation.
