Should The Hooks On The Thule T2 Bike Rack Be The Same Length?

Question:

Noticed it was more difficult to load my 29er on the T2 front tray vs. the rear. Got to looking and noticed that one of my hooks is longer than the other. Checking the Thule parts diagram they only show one number. Does that make sense? Could previous owner have swapped an arm from a different model Thule rack?

Hello Matt, thanks for reaching out. The ratcheting hooks on the Thule T2 Bike Rack should both be the same length. It could be the previous owner broke or lost one and replaced it with whatever they had available at the time.

What model of the T2 bike rack do you have? The replacement hook part # 753-3583 is correct for the Thule T2 bike carriers TH916XTR, TH917XTR, and TH918XTR which are the original T2. There is also the T2 Classic and the T2 Pro XT so if you are looking to replace the arm please confirm which one you have.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.

Not really sure which model it is - purchased used. Kind of a mute point. I attempted to disassemble one of the arm holders and the hardware so corroded it will not come apart. Would have to drill everything out to replace the arm. I'm thinking I may just cut it and add some EMT or pipe to extend it a couple inches. Thanks for the reply.
