Does Seaflo Diaphragm Pump Meet USCG Regulations for Ignition Protection

Updated 04/15/2025 | Published 04/10/2025

Question:

I’m considering using this pump on my boat. The existing pump, which has failed, is mounted in an enclosed space adjacent to the gas tank. Does this pump meet USCG Regulations for Ignition protection?

Hello Robert; I reached out to Seaflo about this and they said the Diaphragm Pump for Boats and RVs # SE59ZR is ignition protected. However, they were unable to say for sure if it meets the Coast Guard regulation since they weren't aware of one in particular.

I asked because another similar pump that I’m considering “Meets USCG Regulations 183.410 and EN ISO 8846 MARINE for Ignition Protection.” No worries. I’ll just go with the other pump. Thanks.

@BobR ah yeah looking at that the Seaflo will meet the regulation but if you want to play it safe get the other pump. I'm really not sure why Seaflo wouldn't know about this since it is part of their business.
