Orientation for Mounting Transmission Cooler
Published 04/10/2025 >
Question:
Ive gone through all details about the plate fin type and tube fin type. One thing thats not mentioned anywhere here is ... Do we mount it with the hoses facing upwards, downwards, or sideways? Some are up, some side, some down. Do the plates or tubes type need to be horizontal or vertical for most efficiency? Maybe I missed out, but such mount position should be mentioned in all the product ads. Thank you

Hey Hatish! The best way to mount a transmission cooler like the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13504 is right side up or sideways. If the barbs are up or out to the side you're good. The other important thing to consider is mounting it in a location that will deliver the maximum airflow.

"If the barbs are up or out to the side you're good". Understood. Great, now I'll know what to do for proper installation. That means the plates could actually be vertical or horizontal, it doesn't matter to the flow. Cheers
