How to Tell If a 2002 Ford F-250 Has an OEM Brake Controller
Published 04/08/2025 >
Question:
Curt TriFlex NEXT Trailer Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional Part Number: C46SV: Truck has 7 pin round plug. How do I know if this is factory or aftermarket for this controller.

Hey Curt, if the truck came with a 7-way there is a good chance that it's an OEM controller. But, someone can always add this after the fact, and with it being 23 years old now, there's a high likelihood it's not factory.
Is there something else I can help you with? If you need anything else, please feel free to drop a comment and let me know!

So I crawled under the truck. The receiver hitch has a Ford sticker on it. So I'm assuming that the 7 pin is a factory install as the mounting plate has the round 7 pin as well as a 4 pin. So I guess all I will need is the Curt TriFlex trailer brake?
