Question:

how does this brake reducer work? Will i have to adjust this differently from everyday driving vs flat towing? I have 2022 Nissan frontier. Where do you install this reducer?

Hello Curt,

Great question! The Roadmaster Brake Pressure Reducer # RM-900002 is designed for use with the BrakeMaster Supplemental Braking System # RM-9160 to reduce braking force on your towed vehicle. It helps prevent excessive braking that could lead to some nasty wear on your Frontier's brakes while flat towing.

This reducer installs in-line on the air supply line going to the BrakeMaster actuator inside your 2022 Nissan Frontier. It's usually placed under the dash or along the air line from the RV to the actuator.

You don’t need to adjust it between flat towing and regular driving. It only affects braking when the supplemental system is in use, leaving your Frontier’s normal braking untouched.

If your towed vehicle’s brakes feel too strong while towing, this reducer can help by limiting air pressure to the actuator.

Are you getting the Frontier ready to flat tow? Do you have any of the components? If you need any help getting the parts together, just let me know, I am happy to help!

Hey Curt, how did things go with the brake pressure reducer on your Frontier? Did it smooth out the braking when you used the BrakeMaster system for flat towing? Your update could make it easier for others setting up a similar setup.

@CurtH I am very sorry to hear that Curt! Glad you are alive and well =) By bumper do you mean base plate? If you have roadmaster tow bars you will want the # RM28GR, if you have Blue Ox # BLU85CR. By brake cables do you mean second vehicle kit for the Roadmaster Brakemaster? Then you will want the Second Vehicle Kit with Breakaway for Roadmaster BrakeMaster Flat Tow Braking System # RM-98160. If these are not the parts please let me know. If you need a full kit, I am happy to get a nice tow package put together for you.
