Looking to install a hitch on our 2021 Audi Q5. I contacted the local authorized dealer and they said they couldnt install the wiring harness because they didnt have the necessary coding tool required for the car. Does the car need special coding for the wiring to work?

Hello James, thanks for reaching out. For a wiring harness for your 2021 Audi Q5 I recommend the Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT. Reason, being this can be installed out your Audi without the need for any coding tool or anything like that. If installed properly, the vehicle will not even know it is there. This harness uses clamps that go around the wires and detect electrical pulses. So you can tap into those signals without cutting any of the vehicle wiring. Any qualified installer should be able to do this. No special tools are required, just a bit of know-how.
