Can 12 inch Hub Drums that Had Hydraulic Assemblies be Used with Electric Assemblies
Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/27/2025 >
Question:
I have a 1956 airstream Bubble. It had hydraulic brakes- totallly non functional. Brakes are 12” and 2” wide. My question is can I use my 12” hubs with the new loaded backing plates, or do I need new hubs as well. They are in fine condition. Thanks, Larry

Hey Larry, yes your current drums can be used with electric assemblies instead of the hydraulic ones you have now. If you are looking for a set to replace what you have the part # AKEBRK-7-SA is a great option that's is self adjusting.

Hey Larry, how did things go with switching your Airstream’s hydraulic brakes over to the electric assemblies? Your update could make it easier for others working on older trailers with similar setups.
