What Frame Width Does etrailer Bolt-On Swivel Mounting Plate for 3,500-lb Trailer Jacks Fit

Question:

What is meant by fits trailer frames with a cross section depth of 3inch or less? What is the cross section depthinch of the frame? If the lip of the mounting bracket that supports the frame is 2inch wide, why must the frame be no more than 3?

Hey Frank, the cross section depth of a frame is the width of the frame's channel. So the etrailer Bolt-On Swivel Mounting Plate for 3,500-lb Trailer Jacks # e52JR can fit on frame channels that are less than 3 inches in width which is due to the length of the bolts that come with it.

THank you, that makes sense. The 3 inch limit is due only to the length of the bolt. In the case of a frame made with square tubing this makes sense. Many trailers are made with channel, in which case a one inch bolt would be long enough and there would be no 3 inch limitation. Thank you for your explanation.
