Recommended Trailer Jack for a Karavan Boat Trailer

Updated 10/15/2025 | Published 02/10/2025

Question:

I currently have a Karavan boat trailer and the tongue jack failed. Looking to upgrade. I have not been able to confirm whether or not this jack will suffice as a replacement to the existing jack. I have the pdf drawing of the existing jack and looking to have someone look at it to determine if this jack would repalce it. Thanks

Hey Mike, as long as your trailer frame isn't larger than 3" x 5" then the Dutton-Lainson Boat Trailer Jack # DL22335 will work great as an upgrade. This jack has a nice 1,500 lb capacity, so it should be plenty to lift your trailer.

What kind of boat do you have? I used to work in the industry so I'd be curious to hear what you have! Feel free to let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi Bryce, My boat us a 2021 Bayliner DX2250. The trailer is a Karavan trailer with a swing away tongue.

@MikeS Nice! How do you like it? I haven't ever rode in a Bayliner, but I had a buddy that used to build their boats and spoke pretty highly of them.

Hi, Purchased the tongue jack and it’s working great. Question on keeping it greased/lubed properly. Are the two fittings opposite side of the handle for grease? OR do I need to remove the plastic cap and gear assembly to apply grease? Thanks

@MikeS Hello Mike. Yes, you use the grease fittings on the side of the jack. You would not need to remove the cap on top.
