Question:

what is the outside dimensions of the channel that holds the twin ball on a Curt 45900 hitch. I see that the inside dimensions are 3inch but what about the measure outside. I ask to see if I have a lock pin for the ball that is long enough to span the width of the channel on the outside and still be able to lock. If you have a locking pin that would work it would be great if you also listed that part number. Thanks.

Hey James! Sorry for the slight delay on this, I was waiting on a response from Curt since we don't have one in our local warehouse I can measure. The outside to outside measurement on the # C45900 is 3.69". Will that work with your lock? If not, Curt makes a keyed alike lock set designed to fit this ball mount which is the # C23556.

I did find a lock that works. I believe the distance of the lock between is 3.75" or 3 3/4". I have had the Curt hitch for a while now and I can tell you it works great, very sturdy. I tow a 26 1/2' boat and tandem axle trailer with it that weighs 7,400 lbs and it works great. I have no fears that my connection points to the boat will fail. I also have a much smaller bass boat so the ability to quickly adjust the trailer ball height to get a level tow attitude on the trailer is very important. Great product.
