Question:

Hi: I have a Shelby model 5404 on my drift boat a big row boat trailer. Have had two previous ones fail as the spindle that the tow strap winds around bent. Do the current Shelby models have a stronger spindle? If not is there another model you would recommend that would fit with the same bolt pattern on my trailer? Thanks!

The Shelby 5404 winch is a 1,200 lb winch with a 20 foot nylon strap. The Dutton Lainson part # DL14996 is a similarly rated 1,500 lb winch and for a strap you would need the part # DL24249. This setup would be slightly stronger and less likely to bend the shaft like you mentioned.
