Hey Caleb, I would assume pretty safely that a 5 lug axle that is 3 inch in diameter has a 5,200 lb capacity. You might still look on the axle for a tag that has that info listed. Is there any info anywhere else you can find on the axle?

It's so old I'm really struggling to find any info at all. Is there any other way to confirm that? Or any examples of that online you know of? I can't really find any online that are 3 inch with a 5 lug pattern... I know its a bit of a shot in the dark definitively identifying this thing..

@CalebH Good point. The bolt pattern is typically on lower capacity axles so that is a my bad. I would say next step would be to pull a hub and get either the dimensions of the spindle where the bearings ride or the bearing numbers. With that I would be able to determine more accurately. I'm leaning more towards it being a 3,500 lb axle now.

@JamesonC Measured the spindle, saw three different sizes tapering toward the axle shaft. 1 1/4", 1 1/2", and then 1 3/4". Checked the bearing number, there was only one bearing that I could identify. The number was LM67048. It was also mounted on mono leaf springs that are pretty thick, tapering towards the two eye holes. Leaf spring width was 1 3/4 inches. The tires that were mounted to the axle originally were rated for 3,100 lbs.? hoping that means something?

@CalebH That appears to match our spindle part # TRU34FR which is for a 3,000 lb axle but my guess is what you have is pretty old and the standards for capacities are different.
