Will BTBRV Magnetic Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve Slide Out While Towing

Updated 01/19/2026 | Published 01/17/2026

Question:

Since there is a slot instead of a hole, is there any risk of the reducer working its way out of the receiver during towing, or does the magnet provide a secure enough attachment?

Hey Steve, great question! The magnets on the BTBRV Magnetic Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve # BTBRV64FR are strong enough to keep this from happening. They will keep it secure in your 2-1/2" receiver so you don't have to worry about it sliding out while towing.

What kind of trailer are you towing?

I have not used the insert yet. I know that it fits better that the old insert that I was using. Hoping for less slop in the hitch. Will let you know after my first tow. RV is in the shop right now.

Works great. No play no slop. Highly recommend. Btw forgot that it was in and drove 60 miles including dirt roads and it was still in place upon arrival.

Insert works great there is no chance due to the slot that it will work it's way out

I recently used this product for the first time since I ordered it. I took a round trip vacation from Missouri to Florida. Simply put, it was easier to use due to the slot instead of a hole. Also, I didn’t notice any extra movement or damage to my receiver.

No issues with slippage or slop in the receiver so far. Have only used it a few times, it will get a full workout this summer. I am using mine in a SuperHitch, one thing to note is you need to put the insert in “upside down” in order to use the lower hitch
