Can Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension Systems Be Installed On A Forest River R-Pod-190

Question:
Part Number: ASR5200S01 I would like to install the Timbren Axle-Less 5200 Lbs system on my RPOD-190 camping trailer. The issue I see, after watching the videos, is that the trailer frames used as examples are always flush with the inside of the wheel well. On the RPOD- the frame is inset about 7 from the inside face of the wheel well. Would you have a suggestion as to how I could fill in the 7 space so that the Timbren suspension would mount in the correct location? I see the drawings for the suggested right-angle reinforcing plates, but it is always shown on the inboard side of the trailer frame. I could see making a 7 wide U channel and bolting/welding it on the outside of the RPOD frame but would this be safe? I would appreciate any insight or options you may have.

Hi Hank,
Having to add on 7" of material to make up the spacing from the frame to the wheel wells isn't really going to be the safest option for your R-Pod. You would need to either increase the height of the frame for the wheels to clear under the trailer like you'd see with a typical travel trailer or switch to a torsion axle in order to have the wheels sit in the wheel wells and still get the same benefits of a torsion suspension.
Adding on to the trailer frame outwards to make the Timbren Axle-less System # ASR5200S01 work would likely place too much pressure on the extensions and not properly distribute the weight across the frame. If you'd like to go with a torsion axle then you'll want to call in to our customer service department (800-298-8924) when you have a minute to take some measurements so we can figure out the dimensions of the axle.
