Hey Robert, yes the Kodiak disc brake calipers part # KDBC225DAC that you referenced will replace the Tie Down calipers you have now 46304, they can be used as a left or right hand caliper and does come with ceramic brake pads. If you ever needed replacement pads you'd need part # K225CP.

Just to confirm - The Kodiak KBDC225DAC is a direct replacement for Tie Down 46304? As in they bolt right up to the current bracket without any other accommodations? Thanks for your time.

You said they can be used as right or left. My left caliper has the brake line going in one side, and then the brake line for the right caliper essentially y’s off the left caliper out of the other side where the bleeder screw is on this one. I only have a bleeder valve on the right side. I’m thinking maybe my setup is different, and I have two different calipers, or is there something I need to do to this caliper to accommodate both brake lines instead of the bleeder screw?

@JamesonC that’s a good question ?? . Maybe we should have started there. I have a Tahoe boat on it’s original, and only one year old, trailstar boat trailer. It’s made by white water marine group. I just did the wheel bearings and races, because I had one sides hub getting really hot. Well, Everything was great, until I put the calipers back on. I found my problem. I have a brake issue, not a wheel bearing issue. It was a year anyways, so whatever, I now have fresh hand packed timken bearings and races in there. ?? So, back to the brake issue, I’m assuming it’s a caliper hanging up? I bled the lines and still grinding on the one side. It will spin, but not as freely as it should. Does this sound like the caliper is the culprit? I am in Florida and the trailer has seen saltwater, but it gets washed with “salt off” every time we get home from saltwater along with the boat and motor. My calipers say boss on them and I can’t find anything online about them. One says boss 220510 and the other one that has a brake line going in and then coming out the other side to go to the other hub is boss 18900. Sorry for the novel, I am just lost with a boat trailer that’s not even a year old yet. Thanks in advance.

@RobertF I would say it does sound like a caliper or brake pad issue. Basically you'd need to take the caliper off the rotor and see what's going on. Using a c-clamp and a brake pad can you push the piston all the way in?

I purchased these Kodiak to replace my tie down 46304, but the new side pin, or (bolts) are smaller size to fit the tie down mounting plate and the tie down one are to big to fit through the metal bushings on the kodiak, and idea how they are mounting them ?

@RobertH That's a bummer to hear. Looks like you'll need a new mounting flange too to match the Kodiak. What is your axle capacity?

I have the 225 caliper, but the bolt thread pattern is different than the mounting bracket that the Tie Down 46304 caliper was attached to. Can you buy caliper bolts for the 225 with different thread pattern?

@PerryR You would need a new bracket for the caliper like the part # KCMB10RD as not only is the thread different but the calipers aren't all held by the brackets in the same place so you need to make sure the caliper and bracket match.

Will the original Tie Down 12" brake disc work with the Kodiac 225 Caliper and Kodiac mounting bracket?

@PerryR It should but we don't know for certain. It's still best option to try the bracket first and if that doesn't work unfortunately you'd have to replace the disc/hub.
