Can Kuat Piston Pro Bike Rack be Used at Rear of 25 ft Sprinter Camper

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 01/26/2025

Question:

We are interested in the Kuat Piston Pro for our two Aventon Avenger 2 Fat tire electric.... Bikes 77lbs, - battery 10.6 lbs puts us under the capacity of each tray of 67.....the real kicker is our 25 ft sprinter that we would be towing our bikes with......I am guessing the 42 lbs is all the way to a Class A ...... are we way outside guidlines in trying to use this hitch for our vehicle? If we are too outside of the guidlines for the Piston Pro, what carrier would you suggest? Thanks,

Hey Scott, this is a really great question. So a 25 foot long Sprinter is only a little bit longer than a standard Sprinter which is perfectly fine to use the Kuat Piston Pro bike rack # KU98VR to it's full capacity of 67 lb per bike. The big issue with RV applications and bike racks is the extra length of RVs exaggerates the movement of accessories in the hitch which puts more stress on the bike rack.

That shortest length Sprinter is only 5 feet shorter than what you have now and that wheelbase is not a problem at all for the Piston Pro since that's really not enough to make a difference. So long story short you can use this rack. Does that all make sense?

Hey Scott, how did things go with the Kuat Piston Pro on your Sprinter? Did it handle the weight and ride stability the way you hoped? Your update could make it easier for others towing bikes with similar vans.
