Rear access gets complicated once bikes or cargo are on your hitch, especially with heavier gear. Tilting racks still get in the way. This swing-away adapter lets you move the rack aside and completely open the tailgate or rear doors.
Rear access usually means unloading bikes or working around the rack. The Pivot XD lets your rack or cargo swing out of the way, so tailgates and rear doors open fully with everything still mounted. The forged latch and pin secure the arm closed while driving, and that same pin locks the arm open at 90 or 120 degrees. Pull the pin, swing the arm aside, and the back of the vehicle is open without unloading bikes or gear.
This version is intended for heavier bike racks and loaded cargo carriers where lighter swing arms start to feel out of their league. The Pivot XD is built to support more weight and leverage at the hitch, so larger racks and full loads feel manageable instead of pushing the limits.
The built-in cam tightens inside the receiver to remove play between the hitch and the adapter. Once tightened, it keeps the connection snug, so the rack doesn't rattle or clunk while you're driving. This adjustment is separate from opening and closing the swing arm and is there so the drive stays quiet.
The arm swings toward the passenger side and locks open at both 90 and 120 degrees. Swinging away from traffic keeps access predictable in parking lots and along curbs, while the two lock points let you choose between quick access or maximum clearance depending on the space you have behind the vehicle. That makes a difference when space is limited and access needs to be quick.
The Pivot XD is designed to accept add-ons like the Accessory Hoop with MOLLE panel for mounting gear, as well as a Spare Tire Adapter that attaches to the hoop. This lets the swing arm carry more than just bike racks or cargo boxes when your vehicle setup or travel needs change.

This one heavy duty swing hitch. It’s what I needed but was shocked on how massive it is. It’s for a dirt bike so it good.
If you’re looking for mountain bikes I would step down to the lesser hitch.
I am not 100% happy with my recent purchase. The swing away does not line up to the vehicle in a parallel position like I think it should. In other words it droops towards the passenger side. One of the edges is rolled pretty bad at the hinge point. I just expected better quality control for the price. But as always I am very pleased with my service I get at etrailer. Thanks
