Updated 01/20/2025 | Published 01/18/2025

Question:

I’m trying to find a low profile bed cover for my 2004 GMC stepside everybody I talk to said only can find soft vinyl covers for it. Do not want a vinyl cover that somebody could just take a knife and cut open. Do y’all have one that would fit on This truck?

Hello Denville, thanks for getting in touch. We do have a cover for the 2004 GMC stepside that is not a vinyl cover. Take a look at the Pace Edwards JackRabbit Retractable Hard Tonneau Cover # 311-JRC2576. The cover itself is made of aluminum panels that retract into a canister behind the cab. This is considered a low profile cover. It installs inside and flush with the bed rails. If security is your concern the cover is also lockable. It is going to take a lot more than a knife to get inside this cover lol. Also just to confirm, this cover is for the stepside models with the 6-1/2' bed.

You will find a few videos linked below that go over more of the specs and details for this cover. Comment below and let me know what you think or if you have any questions.

@DenvilleC just click the part number here : # 311-JRC2576 to go to the page where you can add to your cart and place your order. Feel free to reach out if there is anything else I can do to help. You will also find a link to the cover I mentioned just below. The cover includes everything needed to install. No additional parts are necessary.

@JesseM how do you secure it to the bed since it don’t have a lip on it like regular fleet size truck since this is a stepside

@DenvilleC it uses clamps on each side. I don't have a picture of them I can share but I can assure you the hardware included with this cover is specifically for the stepside models.
