Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 01/14/2025

Question:

I am having difficulties determining the proper weight distribution hitch for my towing needs. I am considering the Equalizer brand. My trailer weight max is 3200lbs with a tongue weight of 300-325. Can you recommend the proper Equalizer WDH for these weights?

Hey Peter, I can absolutely help with that. The best Equal-i-zer WDH for your camper is the following:

Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control - 6,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW # EQ37060ET

This system is made for trailers with a tongue weight between 200 and 600 lbs, and it sounds like your trailer will be right within that range. This means you will have adequate tension on the spring bars to where you will see effective ride leveling and sway control. The Equal-i-zer systems especially are known for being durable and providing good results, so they come highly recommended.

Please note you will need a 1-7/8" thin-walled socket to install the hitch ball. We offer one as part # ALL643216 if you need one. Also note the frame brackets for this WDH must be placed between 27" and 32" back from the center of the coupler ball. Make sure you have room in this location on the A-frame. The frame brackets are about 2" wide.

Feel free to reach out and comment below with any other questions.

Hey Peter, how did the Equal-i-zer weight distribution hitch work out for your camper? Did it give you the leveling and sway control you were hoping for? Your update could make it easier for others setting up a similar trailer.
