Are Timken Bearings for 6k Axle Made in USA

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 01/06/2025

Question:

My fifth wheel RV is 2006 Okanagan Canadian with Dexter 6000 LB axles. The bearings are Timken 14125A on the outer. Ive had failure of two of the four on my rig while traveling. Note that they all were stamped CHINA. I replaced them with American made Timken bearings with no more trouble. Im getting ready soon to travel again but first will be removing hubs and repacking or replacing anything needed. Are the bearings you mention here made in America? I wont use Chinese made bearings again.

Hey Mike, yes the Timken bearing 14125A part # TMK54FR that you referenced is made in the USA.

Since you have a 6k axle the other matching Timken bearing you would need is the part # TMK44FR.

Hey Mike, how did things go after you switched to the American-made Timken bearings on your Okanagan? It’d be great to hear if the 14125A and 25580 bearings held up well on your next trip. Your update could make it easier for others dealing with similar axle issues.

@JamesonC We made a trip to Canada after changing the races and bearings to the ones you sold me. The trip one way was about 1200 miles. While there I removed the wheels and bearings and checked them out. They were in good shape so I repacked them and put it all back together. We made it home with no trouble. Those two bearing failures I mentioned before cost me $1000 each for the roadside repairs, so the extra cost for the American bearings was definitely worth it. I'm impressed that after all this and earlier communication with you, you took the time to contact me about this. That's great for service and why I keep coming back to etrailer. Today I'm getting started on pulling the wheels and bearings to get ready for another longer trip. I'll let you know how that goes.

@MikeD Glad your bearings are holding up well and thanks for the kind words! Definitely let us know how they look when you pull them next.
