Replacement Hydraulic Brake Parts for Continental Boat Trailer

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 01/02/2025

Question:

I need to replace my calipers rotors and hubs on my dual axel Continental boat trailer It already has the Surge brake system installed I just need the whole repair kit. Its got a 5,200 LB GAWR but says max carrying capacity is 4400 LB it uses 175/80D13C tires. I believe the axels are both 3500 LB Im not a 100 sure. Would 2 set of these work for both my axels on the trailer?

Hi Keith; since it is a tandem axle trailer you only need one DeeMaxx Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # DE57SR. This has everything you need to replace the lines on your current setup. For replacement calipers/rotors/hubs (so really a complete replacement) you will need to identify the axles.

If you have an axle tag with a serial number that could be used to identify it with the manufacturer. If not, I would go ahead and pull off the hubs and check the bearings. Check for part numbers stamped into the sides of the bearings. If these are worn or missing you will have to measure the inner diameter using a digital caliper # PTW80157.

If you have 3,500 lb axles using # L68149 inner and # L44649 outer bearings you can replace the brakes with # DE66YR. If the trailer has 5,200 lb axles with # 25580 inner and # 15123 outer bearings you need # DE28YR instead. Since that wheel size typically uses 4 on 4 or 5 on 4-1/2 bolt patterns I expect you're correct and it will match with the standard 3,500 lb components.

Hey Keith, were you able to check the bearing numbers on your trailer axles to confirm which DeeMaxx brake kit fit? Knowing what you found could really help others trying to match parts for their tandem axle boat trailers.
