What Direction Should Disc Brake Calipers Face
Updated 05/28/2015 | Published 05/26/2015 >
Question:
Im planning on changing my drum brakes to disk brake on my 5th wheel does it make any difference where you install your calipers facing the front or facing the back of the 5th wheel

Brake calipers are typically installed so they point toward the back of the trailer, but it is okay to install them pointing up or toward the front of the trailer. The important thing to consider when installing the calipers is to make sure at least one bleeder valve is pointing up and above the brake line fitting. The reason for this is to let air escape if it gets trapped in the caliper when you are bleeding the brakes.
I have attached an installation video on a trailer that was upgraded from drum brakes to disc brakes for you to check out.
