Question:
Can I convert my 6000 Lb Dry=4800 travel trailer with torsion axle with your Hydrastar Disc Brake Kit w/ Actuator for Tandem Axle Trailers - 10inch Rotor - 5 on 4-1/2 - 3.5K Part Number: HYD42FR 2017 Forest River Rockwood Mini-Lite 2504S with Tandem Torsion Axle Electric brakes Thank you

Hello Vince,
Yes, the Hydrastar Disc Brake Kit w/ Actuator for Tandem Axle Trailers - 10" Rotor - 5 on 4-1/2 - 3.5K # HYD42FR is the perfect kit for your 2017 Forest River Rockwood Mini-Lite 2504S. You already have the electric brakes on there, and with the 3,500 pound electric brakes it uses a 4 bolt flange just like the # HYD42FR, so this kit will come with everything needed to make the swap over to disc brakes. I do however recommend grabbing some LubriMatic Prime Guard High Temperature Wheel Bearing Grease # L11380 if you don't already have some. Any high temperature bearing grease will be fine.
One other thing that is worth mentioning, the OEM brake controllers are getting better with time in the new trucks, but they still have not figured out all the bugs. I have heard of some issues with the 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 not being compatible with some electric over hydraulic actuators. Most of us here at etrailer still use an aftermarket brake controller in our new trucks just because they are more reliable. The # TK52HR is one of my favorites, and that part number would come with the vehicle specific pigtail for a super easy install on your 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500. Hopefully you get it hooked up and your OEM brake controller works great, but just in case, I wanted to give you a heads up.
Happy New Year! May 2025 be your best year yet! From, your friends here at etrailer!

Hey Vince, how did the swap to the Hydrastar disc brake kit go on your Rockwood Mini-Lite? Did the actuator pair well with your truck’s brake controller? Your update could make it easier for others planning the same conversion.
