Will Diode Dynamics C1 Pod LED Hitch Light Fit 2020 Porsche Cayenne

Updated 02/02/2025 | Published 12/26/2024

Question:

Can this work in a 2020 Porsche Cayenne with an OEM Hitch? And wiring? : “Diode Dynamics C1 Pod LED Hitch Light w/ Locking Hitch Pin - Reverse and Tail - 2 Hitches Part Number: DDY37QB”

Hi Jose; the Diode Dynamics C1 Pod LED Hitch Light # DDY37QB may fit, it really depends on the wiring. If the factory wiring is a 7-way there is a good chance it will work. However, you need to make sure you can remove the wiring connector from the back of the plug since some can't be detached. Assuming you can, it should look like the connector in the picture below. As long as these match up you will be able to use this with your 2020 Porsche Cayenne.

Thanks Robin. Will take a look underneath. I do have a 7 way OEM type connector and If I understand correctly, the pod’s wiring is placed between the wiring harness and the car’s connector, retaining use of the Plug when trailering. Only wonder if the quirky Porsche PCM will recognize the “Intruder” and disallow it’s use with or without the Strobe option.

@JoseM yes it plugs in-line with the factory wiring. Hard to say what the computer will do, they're tricky depending on the systems you have for towing. Honestly, I wasn't even thinking about that being a possibility earlier but it definitely could be a thing on your Porsche. Some trucks have issues where added lights like these won't work or throw errors because of the low power draw so it doesn't think a trailer is hooked up. I know Diode Dynamics has some truck specific wiring harnesses, my guess is they have built in resistors to prevent the errors. I can reach out to them and see if they know if that would be a problem on your Cayenne and if one of those wiring harnesses will work. Worst case you can probably add in resistors # DI34ZR which fix the no trailer detected problem on almost all applications.

@JoseM they don't have any information on how it will interact with a computer, the only thing they said is that most Cayenne models don't have a factory 7-way so as long as you have the plug you can use it.
