Recommended Snow Plow and Mounting Method for a 2006 GMC Yukon

Question:

2006 Yukon - am looking at the 6 snowplow blades and attachments that you guys offer that fit my rig. 1 What is the better attachment for durability and stability of the blade: Curt 2 inch front hitch, or the special brackets that give 2 points of attachment? 2 On the blades that attach with a front hitch will the 2 blade stiffeners line up with the Curt 31302? It looks like the blade stiffeners are in line with the shaft that goes into the hitch. The Curt has the 2 inch hitch below the crossbar. Are the blade stiffeners angled up or do they sit on the plow assembly 2 inches above the mounted front hitch?

Hey Bruce! The support bar mounting issue you pointed out is why I am going to steer you away from using the Curt Front Hitch item # 31302 to attach a snow plow on your 2006 Yukon. Those support bars on the SnowBear Snowplow item # K2AVAL8219 aren't going to be able to reach the crossbar without some major trimming to the front end of your SUV.

Instead, I recommend going with the Detail K2 Rampage II Snowplow item # K2RAMP8219 and the Custom Mounting Brackets for Detail K2 Snowplows item # K283013. This is an identically sized snow plow with an in-cab controller. The mounting brackets are specifically designed for your SUV.

Hey Jerred - Appreciate the quick reply! The Detail K2 Rampage K2RAMP8219 only has a 2.5 * customer rating. That got my attention + belt lift is a negative (chains last longer). The K2 Rampage II Elite K2RAMP8219 ELT is more $$ but also has features I like such as chain lift rather than a belt lift and actuator instead of winch. However, it is also seems pretty identical to the Detail K2 Rampage K2RAMP8219. Any idea why the K2RAMP8219 is customer rated so low? Also on attachment to truck -- Does the 2 point attachment with special brackets provide a secure stable attachment. Any complaints about bent brackets etc? I live in Montana and I have been plowing between 2/10 of a mile to 1/2 a mile with an ATV for over 25 years. This will be my first truck mounted blade and I just want it to last me some time. Apologies for all the questions and uncertainty. Bruce
