Parts Needed To Add Stainless Kodiak Calipers To Venture Boat Trailer With Tie Down Hub Rotors

Updated 11/17/2025 | Published 12/04/2024

Question:

I have a Venture boat trailer with a Dexter 3750 GVWR Axel and Vortex Tie down integrated wheel hub rotor. I need new disk brake calipers. Id like to upgrade to Kodiak stainless steel calipers. Can you tell me what calipers are bracket to buy that are compatible with my existing axle and wheel hub rotor?

Hello Ken, thanks for reaching out. It is possible to add the stainless Kodiak calipers to your trailer, but you will want to add Kodiak rotors as well. Calipers and rotors are generally not cross compatible between brands, so there is no guarantee your Tie Down hub/rotors will work with the Kodiak calipers. We do not want to mix and match brands here so what I recommend is the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R35DS. This comes with the stainless calipers plus new brackets and rotors. The rotors are slip-on so you will want to use that with the # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K galvanized idler hubs which are for a standard 3,500 lb axle (L68149 inner and L44649 outer bearing). This way you can be sure everything will work together and there will be no compatibility issues.

Hey Ken, how did the upgrade with the Kodiak disc brake kit go on your Venture trailer? Were the new rotors and calipers a good match for your setup? Your update could make it easier for the next person with the same issue.
