Snow Chain Option For 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT

Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/27/2024

Question:

I have a chevy 2020 silverado lt truck. My truck tires are 275r60.20. My owners manual states do not use snow chains on vehicle. I want to be able to drive my 4x4 truck in the snow. I live in California and want to travel to the Sierra Nevada this winter. Can you please let me know what I have to do? Thanks,

Hello Frank, thanks for reaching out. I can definitely recommend a traction device that will fit the 275r60.20 tires on your 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT. Generally, when the owner's manual states not to use chains it is because of limited clearance in the wheel well or behind the tire. The best solution for this will be to use the Konig K-Summit Tire Chains # KON24FR. These attach to the wheel lugs. They give you grip all the way around the tire without taking up any space behind the tire. They are perfect for vehicles with chain limitations like your Silverado.

They are also extremely easy to install, and they are self-tensioning. So, when you find yourself on the side of the road in the high Sierra entering a "chains required" zone you will be able to easily throw them on and continue on your way. Sounds like they are already getting a good bit of snow in some areas so you can plan on needing them.

We made a video that goes over these chains, and you will find it linked below. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Hey Frank, how did the Konig K-Summit tire chains work out for your Silverado in the Sierra snow? Your update could make it easier for others driving trucks with the same chain restrictions.
