Difference Between the etrailer 4 and 5 Leaf Springs

Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/03/2024

Question:

I need to replace the 4 leaf springs on my travel trailer. The current leaf springs are 25 1/4 4 leaf double eye. I have had 2 break and had to do a road side replacement. 5200lbs axles and was wondering should I go back with the 4 leaf or go up to the 5 leaf spring? Part numbers Im looking at are as follows, e 34sr and e 44sr. Thank you for your assistance

Kevin, the only difference between a 4 leaf spring # e44SR and a 5 leaf spring # e34SR is that the 4 leaf spring will use slightly thicker leaves, and is 1/8 of an inch shorter, so the difference between the two springs are pretty negligible in my opinion.

So with that said, I'd suggest going up to the 5 leaf springs # e34SR instead. Especially since you mentioned that you've already had two break, which makes me think they might be getting overloaded.

Hey Kevin, how did things go after switching to the 5-leaf springs on your travel trailer? Did they give you the stronger support you were hoping for after those roadside replacements? Your update could make it easier for others facing the same choice.
