Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this 5-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for your 6,000-pound trailer axle. Now, this double-eye leaf spring acts as part of your trailer suspension system by providing an attachment point for your 6,000-pound trailer axle. This is made of sturdy steel construction with a powder coat that's going to help resist rust and corrosion. And it is designed to flex, to absorb road shock, and give you a smooth ride. It's gonna help reduce wear and tear on your trailer, and it's going to ensure a leveled ride on bumpy and uneven surfaces.
As you probably know, a double-eye leaf spring is attached to hangers that are welded onto your trailer. One end of the spring will attach directly to the hanger with a suspension bolt, the other end will attach to shackle straps that are suspended from a hanger. These straps allow the spring to move and pivot so that it can better compensate for uneven pavement. So if you have a tandem or triple-axle trailer, the shackle straps will be attached to the equalizer that connects multiple springs. In the eyes on each end are pre-installed nylon bushings. The eye diameter with the bushing is 9/16". Without the bushing, it's 11/16". And again, this is a 5-leaf spring. Individually, it's rated at 3,000 pounds.
So that means if you install a pair, one on each side of your axle, you're gonna be covered for 6,000 pounds of trailer weight support. And to ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs. And we do recommend installation by a professional. I wanna give you the measurement of the length of the spring, measuring center of eye to center of eye. So let me see if I can line that up there for you so you can see.

Hey Tom, I definitely understand how frustrating that can be, having to fight with the bushings and bolts during install is never a good time. The way the spring eyelets are formed at the factory can sometimes cause the hole to be slightly oblong, which can make getting everything lined up more difficult than expected.
