Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a quick look at this four-leaf double-eye spring for your 6,000-pound trailer axles. Now this double-eye leaf spring acts as part of your trailer suspension system by providing an attachment point for your 6,000-pound axle. This is made from a sturdy steel construction with a powder coat finish, it's gonna help resist corrosion. And this is designed to flex, to absorb road shock and give you a smooth ride.
It's gonna help reduce wear and tear on your trailer, and this is going to ensure a level ride on bumpy and uneven surfaces. So, as you probably know, double-eye leaf springs attach to hangers that are welded onto your trailer. One end of the spring will attach directly to the hanger with a suspension bolt, and then the other end will attach to shackle straps that are suspended from a hanger. These straps allow the spring to move and pivot so that it can better compensate for uneven pavement. Now if you have a tandem or a triple-axle trailer, the shackle straps will be attached to the equalizer that connects multiple springs.
Now if you're in need of hangers, suspension bolts, or equalizers, you can find all of those items here at etrailer.com. And the eyes on each end are pre-installed nylon bushings. The eye diameter with the bushing is 9/16 of an inch, and without the bushing, it's 11/16 of an inch. And again, this is a one, two, three, four-leaf spring. Individually it's rated at 3,000 pounds.
So that means if you install a pair, one on each side of your axle, you're covered for 6,000 pounds of trailer weight support. Now let me go ahead and put my tape measure up to this and I wanna measure the length center to center. So as I hope you can see there on center, we're sitting right at 25 1/4 inches. And the width is 1 3/4 inches. And to ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs, and we do recommend installation by a professional.

Hey Tom, I definitely understand how frustrating that can be, having to fight with the bushings and bolts during install is never a good time. The way the spring eyelets are formed at the factory can sometimes cause the hole to be slightly oblong, which can make getting everything lined up more difficult than expected.
