Recommended Wireless RV Backup Camera for a Pre-Wired 2021 Ram 3500

Updated 12/16/2025 | Published 11/02/2024

Question:

I am looking for an RV backup camera. My 2021 Ram 3500 was bought with the rear camera option but did not come with a camera. I have a 35 foot 5th wheel. Do you sell a camera to plug into that existing wiring? Wireless?

I am sorry Chris there is no way to plug an aftermarket camera system into that port on your 2021 Ram 3500 and have it show on your screen. The OEM connections are not designed to work with aftermarket camera systems, like the Voyager Camera item # VGR84VR you were looking at.

The best wireless camera system for your 35' 5th wheel trailer is going to be the Furrion Vision S item # FOS05TASF or item # FCE48TASL-05 if you want side cameras too. These wireless systems to require use of their own monitor. A 5" with a couple of mounts is included and can be easily taken down and stored away when you're not towing. The back up camera gives you a 120-Degree viewing angle. It also includes nigh vision out to 16'.

I have linked a review video below so you can see the features of this system demonstrated.

Hey Chris, how did the Furrion Vision S wireless camera system work out with your 35' 5th wheel? The wide viewing angle and night vision sound like great features for towing. Your feedback could help others looking for a similar setup with their Ram.

I ended up with a Yakry Y27-N (off Amazon). It cuts in and out and the video is slow. I reached out to them and they sent me an antenna with a long cable for free, That made it worse. I reached out again and they sent me whole new one. Have not installed it. We are stopping RVing so not a concern anymore.

@ChrisO Yeah, you definitely get what you pay for when you shop on Amazon.
