Is It Easier to Just Remove Exhaust of etrailer Trailer Hitch on 2018 Subaru Outback

Question:
I recently bought a hitch for my 2018 suburu outback . It is the hitch that mounts under the frame and not on the bumper. I will be installing at home using ramps. Is it easier to just remove the muffler than to just lower the exhaust ? I’m not sure I’ll have enough room if I lower the exhaust.

Hey Pat,
This is honestly not something I can directly answer, as it just depends on the room you have and how comfortable you are working around the exhaust when installing the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98847 on your 2018 Subaru Outback. I can tell you completely removing the muffler is going to take longer and be more difficult than just removing the exhaust, but if you aren't getting the proper clearance with the ramps, then you may find it easier to remove the muffler.

Hey Pat, how did things go with installing the hitch on your Outback using the ramps? Did lowering the exhaust give you enough clearance, or did you end up removing the muffler after all? Your experience could help others tackling the same setup at home.
