If you like your vehicle to look stock when you’re not towing, this kit keeps things neat. The hidden design doesn’t stick past the front end, and the removable arms come off with a simple twist. Receiver covers plug into the openings to keep dirt out and give the base plate a finished look. When the covers are in place, there’s nothing to catch your leg or take away from the clean lines up front.
Getting ready to tow is quick and straightforward. Each arm slides into the receiver, twists until it locks, and pins into place. When done towing, pull the pin, rotate, and remove the arms—no tools or extra fuss. It’s a secure connection that makes it easy to go from parked to ready-to-tow in minutes.
The base plate bolts directly to the chassis using included hardware—no welding needed. Its sturdy design spreads towing forces evenly to help prevent stress on the suspension. The durable steel is powder coated to fight rust and corrosion, so it holds up even after long trips and years of use.
This base plate pairs directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure fit. It also works with Roadmaster tow bars when used with adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5 and with Demco tow bars using adapter DM9523041 (all sold separately). Integrated mounting points make it simple to attach an electrical connector plug bracket for a tidy wiring setup up front.
You won’t need special tools or fabrication to get this installed. The bolt-on design and included mounting hardware make it manageable for a home installer. Clear fitment points on the chassis guide alignment so you can get a solid, accurate fit without welding or guesswork. Specs include a 22" distance between brackets, an 11" bracket height, and a 3-year warranty for peace of mind once it’s in place.

You just can't get any better service.
I received my order in 2 days, The spring loaded pin on one adapter was missing. I called etrailer, they called Blue Ox, its in the mail.

Did the install myself on my 2010 Chevy HHR. Instructions are very clear. Only had to purchase the correct type and size of drill bit to complete the job. Very happy with the fit, finish and functionality of this system. Hardly noticeable but it's there when I need it.
We have an RV and we thought about finding some way to tow our HHR. We knew a tow dolly wasn't the right thing for us, so we found etrailer and were sold on the ability to hide the base plates and use a tow bar.

I have found the base plate has accomplmy needs for pulling behind my motorhome. Did the work myself and saved a great deal of money. Was able to do everything, lights, tow bar and base plate for right at $500.00
Product fit perfect
The unit was fairly easy to install. The You Tube video was a tremendous help. It was work but it came out nice.
Installed it myself in a couple of hours, saved a lot of money doing it myself. Working great.
I have used the BX1692 on several Chevrolet HHR’s. We have several in our fleet and some cars have been towed well over 250,000 miles for American Driveaway. We tow these cars behind semi trucks.

This towing bracket has worked well,we have drug this HHR all around without a problem. The blue ox tie bar connects easily, so I’m pretty pleased.
