I know the aluminum part is rust proof, but what to do if the ball rusts?

Hey Good question. The ball that comes with the Weigh Safe Aero Hitch # WS67MR is made of stainless steel. It will be highly rust resistant, but it can show surface rust over time. In these cases, Weigh Safe recommend cleaning the ball with a scotch brite/brillo pad.

Hey David, the Weigh Safe Aero Hitch part #WS77MR does have the clamshell style adapter to convert the hitch ball of it to a 2-5/16 inch ball size. With that removed it's a 2 inch ball. Is that what you were wanting?
