Easy to Use

Remember when gauging your trailer's tongue weight was such a hassle? It often involved wrestling with bathroom scales, which were far from accurate, or making a trip to the weigh station, which took time and effort. Or you had to buy a separate scale. With a Weigh Safe Aero Hitch, it's super-simple. Just hook up your trailer to the ball mount like you would with any other hitch. The moment you connect, the weight of your trailer pushes down on the hitch ball automatically giving you a measurement on the easy-to-read gauge. It's quick, hassle-free, and takes the guesswork out of towing. Now you can focus on the road ahead instead of worrying about whether your load is balanced.

The Weigh Safe Aero Hitch can be used in either the drop or rise position to best suit your needs.

Video Transcript for Review of Weigh Safe Aero Hitch - WS67MR

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Weigh Safe Aero Hitch for your two inch hitch. It has a six inch drop or a seven inch rise and a 12,500 pound maximum gross towing weight capacity. Now, this ball mount has the included hitch ball that'll let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. Basically this shank right here is what will slide into your two inch hitch receiver. And the ball up front here, it's a two inch diameter ball, provides a connection point for your trailer coupler.

It is a stainless steel hitch ball, so it is corrosion resistant. Now, this part will include everything laid out here on the table. It includes the two inch shank right here, slides into your hitch receiver. It also includes the slider ball mount with the two inch fixed ball and the tongue weight gauge on the side. It comes with the hitch pin and clip, which when you slide this into your hitch receiver, line up your holes, slide it through, clip it into place to secure it.

And then we mentioned, it comes with the slider lock. It has the two keys in it. That'll be put through the holes here to lock this ball mount to the shank. And then it also comes with this unique 2-5/16 inch size clamshell adapter. And what this clamshell adapter does, it allows you to tow a trailer that has a 2-5/16 inch size coupler without changing your ball mount.

So to change this from a two inch to a 2-5/16, you just put this over the ball, clip it into place, and now you're ready to go. And when you're done, just remove it and you're back to the two inch ball. Now, we talk about tongue weight and why it's important. Tongue weight or pin load weight refers to the weight that the fully loaded trailer's gonna exert downward on the back axle of your tow vehicle. And tongue weight is typically 10 to 15%.

Should not exceed 25% of your gross trailer weight. So just to give you an example, if you have a 10,000 pound trailer, the tongue weight should be between 1,000 to 1,500 pounds and you can adjust the tongue weight of the trailer by either removing or adding cargo or just redistributing the load that's in the trailer. The tongue weight should never exceed the capacity of your tow vehicle, your hitch, or any of your towing components. This Aero Hitch here is a nice smooth modern design. We mentioned it has the built-in tongue weight gauge to measure the tongue weight to help you balance your trailer. So it makes it a quick way to check if your load needs any adjustments before hitting the road. Very simple to use. Just couple the trailer and it'll get you an automatic measurement every time. So having no more messing around with separate scales, makes it very much easy to use. Now, it offers an adjustable height. If you look right here, all these adjustment holes, they are an inch apart, so it gives you a one inch incremental height adjustment. And it lets you tow trailers of different heights with the same vehicle. You just slide this ball platform up to the height you need, pin it in place with the locking pin and you're ready to go. Now, this will get you a maximum drop of six inches. So it's in the maximum drop position now. It's measured from the top of the shank, top of the ball platform. If you flip this over into your hitch receiver and put the ball at the tallest point, it's gonna get you a maximum rise of seven inches. Now, we talked about this lock has two keys with it. Pop off the cover, put your key in there, twist it a quarter of a turn and it removes the lock. And then just slide your pin all the way through. Put that back on there, twist your key and just remove the key. And then put your cover back on. And you can see that your lock is all secured and it keeps anybody from removing your ball mount from your shank. And then to remove it, just put it back in, remove it, and you're ready to go. Now, the gross towing weight capacity on this is gonna be 12,500 pounds. The maximum tongue weight capacity of 1,500 pounds. And it doesn't matter what size ball you use, if it's the two inch or you switch it to the 2-5/16. So it'll get you the same gross towing weight and tongue weight. Last thing I wanna give you is a couple measurements and what we're gonna measure is from these two hitch pinholes here to the center of the ball. So if we take a ruler and go from the closest hitch pinhole to the ball center to center, it's gonna get you right at eight inches. The furthest hole to the center of the ball, right at 9-1/4 inches. But that should do it for a look at this Weigh Safe Aero Hitch for a two inch hitch. It has a six inch drop, seven inch rise, and a 12,500 pound maximum gross towing weight capacity.

The Weigh Safe adjustable ball mount have a lot of pros to it. One of the main things that stood out for me was how the lock works. If you are putting on the lock cylinder on you don't have to use the key to lock it, it clicks in and locks into place. The Aero is a good option for someone who wants something that is lighter in weight than most adjustable ball mounts. It will also give you slightly better clearance since the two balls are not connected as one and you would get a clam shell adapter to adapt to the 2-5/16th ball size. The scale is a major plus when your loads are not always the same, you always know your Weigh is Safe to go!

Customer service was excellent. Hitch is overkill for my current truck but looking toward the future with this purchase. Great company to do business with.
