What is the Purpose of Having and an Adjustable Pitch for a Weight Distribution Head Section

Question:
I recently bought a new tow vehicle same make/model, different year and when my Jayco camper trailer was hooked up, the tongue was a little higher than before. I unhooked the trailer and lowered the hitch by one hole about 1 inch and the set up looks near perfect. But I noticed that the hitch angle as pitched down some. I think that the bolts werent tighten to the 250 ft/lb OMG! and the tongue weight pushed the hitch down and tilted it slightly. So, my question is, what is the purpose of an angled hitch and how do I know if I need to angle mine?

Great question, Dale.
The pitch of a weight distribution hitch head, like the Fastway e2 # FA92-00-1000, will help to add or remove tension from the spring bars.
If you angle the head more towards the ground then that means it will take more effort to lift the bars in place, and alternatively, if you angle the heads more upwards that means you'll have an easier time lifting the bars into place.
As long as your towing rig is within 1" of being level and your weight distribution is rated properly then you'll be good to go!
