Updated 01/12/2026 | Published 09/09/2024

Question:

Hd256 is described as a 7 1/4 inch . Bulletproof describes it as a six inch . Their diagram shows 6”. Is this a typo?

Hey Michael, so this is a great question about the Bulletproof adjustable ball mount part # HD256 but the issue is that some people measure the rise/drop differently which causes some confusion. We measure from the top of the shank down to the bottom of the ball mount platform where the ball is installed. So using that method we came up with 7-1/4 inches. Most likely BD measured to a higher part of the ball.

Hey Michael, did that explanation about the different measuring methods clear up the confusion on the HD256 ball mount size? Knowing how it compared to Bulletproof’s diagram could help others double-check their own measurements.

@JamesonC yes. Great mount by the way and I found the correct size for my application by referencing trailer and the bulletproof site. You guys are the best for towing applications and products. Thanks
