Weight Distribution Recommendation for 2026 Forest River Greywolf 29te

Question:
Hi, my truck is a 2019 Chevy 2500 with a 2.5 inch receiver hitch, I only tow a 2026 forest river Greywolf 29te travel trailer. From the info i have found tongue weight once loaded is around 1100 lbs. I want to avoid using an adapter sleeve. BLU54TR is the only set up I found with a 2.5 inch receiver, but im not sure if that would be to heavy for my set up, and make the ride too rough, since that weight is at the bottom end of the rating for the blu45tr. Any help is appreciated, Thanks

Hey Tim, we do have other options as well that fit the 2.5 inch hitch size like with the Weigh Safe True Tow part # WS59MR which your tongue weight would work great with and comes with a shank that can do a drop of up to 6 inches. This also has a tongue weight scale built into it as well which is nice. This would be what I would go with if I were you unless you needed a lot more drop from the shank.

I’ve had my WeighSafe 2.5” hitch for months. It’s great. Easy to use. You dial in the tongue load and you are off. I’ve got a 10k toy hauler behind my 22 F250. Best hitch I’ve used in 20 years.

I as well have midweight weigh safe 2026 Silverado 3500 SRW 2 and 1/2 inch hitch … towing Brinkley I265 (9600lbs) was using equalizer and upgraded to 2 1/2 inch WeighSafe to eliminate Sleeve very pleased with the setup

Hi Tim I agree with Jameson, there are more options with a 2.5" receiver. I have the # WS59MR that Jameson suggests and works great on towing a Brinkley I275 weighing about 8500 lbs with 1000lbs tongue weight. I have a GMC2500HD as the tow vehicle and with the WDH it feels like the trailer is on rails The added bonus of this particular WDH is that it comes with a built in scale, so you know what your tongue weight is and then you dial the hitch in to that weight.
