How to Tell if Blue Ox Base Plate Will Fit a 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X

Updated 08/21/2024 | Published 08/16/2024

Question:

I am buying a 2024 Gmc Canyon AT4X and need a base plate to flat tow - I already have a blue ox tow bar on my rv the blue ox description says no offroad bumper so I am assuming they are talking about the Canyon At4X AEV edition with the steel bumper? if I have just the regular AT4X will this fit or what will work with the tow bar I already have? Thank you very much.

Thanks for reaching out, Kirk!

One of the things that Blue Ox does a great job of is showing photos of what their base plates will work with.

I'm attaching a photo in the instructions of the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BLU85CR. In these instructions Blue Ox states that if the front bumper on your 2024 GMC Canyon looks different than either photo then you'll need to contact them because they haven't figured out the fit yet.

If your AT4X bumper looks different than what's in the photo then I'd say it's a no go and you'll need to get the AT4 or you'll need to tow it on a trailer.

This is fantastic research- thank you- the regular at4x looks identical to the bottom picture and the bumper is identical to the at4……… I think folks get confused because there is also an at4x AEV version with a metal bumper……. To add to the GM confusion….. in the 1500 series trucks the at4x version comes with a offroad bumper but this is not the case with the canyon……. Thanks for the reply John you made me feel safer…….. I’ll be ordering it from yall for the time you took to research for me

@KirkO Happy to help! And thank you for your insight into all of those bumpers as well - GM likes to really mix in a LOT of different variations over the years and it can be overwhelming (even for us) to try to keep track of everything.
