Recommended Air Bags for a 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500

Updated 08/18/2024 | Published 08/14/2024

Question:

I have a 2022 Chevy 2500HD Duramax and we just upgraded to a 5th wheel. On the stock suspension Im currently getting about 2.5 inches of squat which does not seem to bad about 2400lbs of pin with 3000 capacity for the truck. Id like to put airbags or RAS on the truck but keep going back and forth as to which would be better. The RV will probably only be towed the typical 6-10 times a year, so the truck will be driven for non-towing mostly although I do not drive it much because I work remotely from home. Thanks for any input. Tim

Congrats on the new 5th wheel! I recommend going with a set of air bags over an RAS system. They won't affect your daily driving and are easily adjustable to suit your comfort when towing. These will definitely solve that squatting issue you're having.

For your 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500, I recommend the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs item # F2613. These air bags have a 5,000 lbs capacity that will level out the rear end of your Silverado when you are towing your 5th wheel trailer. All mounting brackets are custom fit and all necessary hardware is included for installation.

I have linked an installation video below so you can see how to get this air bags set up.

I also recommend adding the Firestone Air Command item # F2610 to your truck. This onboard compressor will allow you to adjust the PSI in your air bags from your phone.
