Parts Needed To Use 100lb Propane Tank with 8500w Champion Generator 201175

Updated 08/05/2024 | Published 08/01/2024

Question:

Fittings needed to SAFELY connect: Champion dual fuel 8500 watt inverter generator model 201175 to an 100LB 23.x gallon propane tank having/with multi valve OR 2 100 LB propane tanks I decided: operating this unit at no more than 50 load - having at least 2 two 100 LB tanks is an better back up power solution. - NOTE: 201175 came with an 6 foot hose/regulator combination quick disconnect at generator - but found this in the manual: The LPG hose included with this unit works with standard 20, 30, and 40 pound LPG tanks. The following notation is provided by Champion - I admit not understanding the language, as follows: The generator requires ½ PSI with a flow rate of 152,000 BTU/hr. when under maximum load.

Hey Joseph.

There is not a dual tank regulator designed to work with your generator, but I can set you up with the parts needed to hook up to a single tank, and you'll have to manually move the hose from tank to tank if one runs out.

You'll use (2) adapter # 204128-MBS, one for each tank, and then attach an extension hose like the 10' # 100914-120-MBS or 20' # 1000914-240-MBS between the adapter on the tank, to your shorter 6' regulator hose champion sent with your generator.

@JosephS There is not a hose to go from that regulator, to the champion generator. It would need to be a 3/8" Male NPT to a Male QD, which does not exist.
