Wish you could keep your fly rods fully rigged and quickly hop spots? Slide 2 setups in, toss the carrier onto your roof rack, and hit the road fast. Stopping for a burger? Lock it up tight so your gear's still waiting for you when you get back.
Want a simpler way to haul your rods on your next river run? This carrier lets you bring 2 fully rigged fly rods up to 10' long. It's honestly awesome for road trips. It pops onto pretty much any roof rack with the included hardware, so you don't have to mess around with weird adapters or complicated installs. Plus, that sleek, low profile isn't just for looks - it cuts way down on wind noise, so you can actually hear your road trip playlist.
Have rods that are just slightly too long? No sweat. Add the extension (870022 - sold separately) and pack rods up to 12' long.
Loading and unloading your rods couldn't be easier. The openings are nice and big, so you won't be wrestling with your gear or jamming it in at weird angles. Just open the spring-loaded door and slide your fully rigged rods in. You won't need to break anything down every time you want to move spots or pack up for the day.
This carrier really looks out for your rods. You can lock it up and walk away knowing your gear's not going anywhere. Worried that rain's on the forecast? Don't be! The fully enclosed aluminum carrier is corrosion resistant, so your rods won't get wet. And on the inside, soft brushes and a padded reel box are like a little pillow fort for your rods and reels. They won't get scratched up or knocked around on the way to the water.
Good product
Absolutely perfect and fits on top of a 2019 Subaru wrx nicely! Assembly isn’t terrible and easy to follow.
Great design…not sure if it is worth the money.
Easy to assemble and install. Serves intended purpose very well. Heavier than I expected, but well made.
Trailer was great to work with. I received my order much sooner than I expected
Well built, relatively light, and lockable. Now I don't have to break down my rods or have the rods in the car always in the way and hitting the front windshield. Another excellent product from etrailer.
Having this rod holder adds at least 35 minutes to my time on the water. I still have to care for my rod and line when I get home, but its real easy to slide it in the rod carrier and head down the road.
The Thule Rod Vault is a solid fishing rod carrier with the benefit of looking like some kind of cool howitzer on the roof of your car. How I wish it worked that way for traffic clearing. Realistically, it has an 8 foot rod limit. I use it for 8 foot long inshore salt water fishing rods with 3500 series reels. I can only wrangle 4 into the 2 tubes. One of my Loomis rods won't fit at all since the first ferrule is so large it won't fit in the tube. It works great for me as I had very limited space on my Honda CR-V with 3 kayaks. If I had a few more inches I would go with the Yakima as it is an open case with foam that could accommodate bulkier items.
Unit works great. Now when I or my buds go fishing we do not have to take rods apart and rerig at next site and do not get hit with rods in car if we do not take them apart. I also tell people, when they ask what it is, that it is my double barreled bazooka because I'm tired of people pulling out in front of me. I love all the looks that I get.
I was very impressed with the speed with which the Thule Rod carrier came. I am also very pleased with the quality of the product. This is the third Thule product I purchased and feel very comfortable recommending your company and the products you represent.
Great product and outstanding service from e-trailer. The Thule rod carrier seems to be of high quality. I just installed it on my SUV. The instructions are a little bit difficult to understand, but the product design makes the assembly easy. All of the parts fit well and went together perfectly. The attachment to my factory Lexus crossbars was a little challenging because the clamps did not cinch down enough to hold the carrier. My factory crossbars may be thinner than other crossbars. There was no information in the instructions about how to deal with this situation so I had some heavy rubber spacers that I added underneath the crossbars to cinch the clamps tight. The carrier is now tight and looks great. I have not had a chance to take it on the highway yet.
